NEWSLETTER 2010 |
Hello
from The Yard Fairy and welcome to all of our new subscribers!
How is your summer going so far? Here at The
Yard Fairy, we had a blast judging the landscaping exhibits
at the San Diego County Fair during June and early July.
We've chronicled our adventures at the fair this year in detail,
so for an instant replay of the fun, read along The Yard Fairy's
blog:

Congratulations to our raffle winner, Lori George! Lori received
2 tickets to the fair after noticing how nice her neighbor's yard
looked, having been redesigned by The Yard Fairy. She decided
to book her landscaping consult with us as well. Thanks for your
business, Lori, and we hope you had a great time at the fair!
Speaking of wins... I had a recent one myself, garnering a complimentary
shortbread from Ann Zuccardy of the Vermont
Shortbread Company! Ann "retired" her business in
2008 but has since announced a relaunch where she will once again
be sending delicious, homemade buttery shortbread to fans and
friends the wide world over. For now, Ann's business is in a transition
stage, but she invites you to become a Fan
on Facebook where you can follow along with her entrepreneurial
adventures. Thanks to Ann, Facebook friend and fellow businesswoman!
For July's landscaping article feature, we'll be discussing how
to design your landscape with maintenance in mind. Basically,
this means that if you take certain precautions and planning steps
when redoing your yard, you can save yourself a lot of work and
headaches later! Read Landscape
Design with Maintenance in Mind today.
Finally, The Yard Fairy is proud to take home two Beautification
Awards from the CLCA in 2010. Read about our recent
achievements in the ongoing mission to provide high-efficiency,
low water landscapes that look beautiful and save our clients
money!

Plans: Design with Maintenance in Mind
We've all felt that sudden urge to buy something
stunning... maybe you arrive home with a gorgeous morning glory
plant and are all too eager to show it off in your garden. So
you hastily put it in the ground, only to have the plant eventually
overtake all the other plants around it. Never fear! Today we
will cover "how to design with maintenance in mind..."
so the next time you get hit with the creativity bug, you'll know
exactly where and how much to plant so as not to make work for
yourself down the line.
Low maintenance, or no maintenance?
Let me state right up front that there is no such thing as a "maintenance
free" yard. A garden will always need watering, pruning,
and general care. That said, there are, however, certain precautionary
steps you can take to lessen the amount of sweat and toil you
put in. Because face it, as much as you can't wait to get out
there and start digging up the dirt during those first few warm
days in March... by the time July rolls around, the last thing
you'll need is to be stuck slaving away in the scorching heat!
