Clients who request a low water yard consultation can expect a thorough assessment of the following:

• Reducing turf grass, determining how much lawn is really needed

• Review of the size and location of walkways, patios and seating areas

• Irrigation check, indication of where improvements to the irrigation can be made, educating you on the latest water saving irrigation system set up

• Review of your plant choices to look for improvements

• Review of your soil health and advise on improvements that can be made

Low Maintenance Landscaping Consultation:

The Yard Fairy covers the following in our Low Maintenance Landscaping Consult:

• Investigating more practical, efficient, and money-saving alternatives to your existing landscape

• Reduction or elimination of turf grass to cut down on water use and maintenance; exploring alternatives to the traditional "lawn"

• Addition or improvement of the walkways, patios and seating areas of your yard

• Review of your existing plants and/or favorites that you may wish to add; recommendation of the best and easiest-to-care-for plants for specific areas of your yard

• Irrigation check, indication of where improvements to the irrigation can be made, educating you on the latest water saving irrigation system set up

• Review of your soil health with advice on how you can make improvements to the existing soil in your yard

Garden Coaching Consultation:

Using our many years of gardening experience, and our seven years of running a landscape contracting business, we can advise you on:

• How to go about purchasing plants; what time of year to buy which types of plants; how to place plants in your yard according to space, sunlight, soil and water conditions

• How to maximize soil health to improve water use within the garden and provide your plants with healthy growing conditions

• How to deal with pests and diseases in an organic way, and when to resort to chemicals

• How to design your garden so that it looks good year round, not just in the spring

• What landscaping projects to undertake yourself, and how to reduce costs

Landscape Design Consultation:

The landscape design is of course our most extensive service, and includes:

• Exploring your "wish list" for your new landscaping project. We do this by supplying you with a 5-page questionnaire plus our 1-2 hour consultancy interview.

• Thoroughly taking into account what the yard has to offer, in terms of sunlight, soil, and water.

• Taking measurements and digital photos of the entire yard - the "before" shots.

• Drawing up a to-scale plan as well as adding in the non-growing components, such as hardscapes. From here, we plot future placement of the plants.

• Two additional meetings with you to be sure the design reflects your original requests. Here, we share our drawing of your future landscape, listen to your input, and make changes along the way according to your feedback.

• The final plans for your landscape design. From here, you can decide whether to install yourself or invite others to bid on the project. Having the landscape plan is especially useful because each contractor would be bidding on the same information, for an apples to apples comparison.
